". . . . Ancient magicks can be helpful in many circumstances that normal magic would not work." Cato said to his classroom. "No one really knows the exact history of ancient magics. Even Bathilda Bagshot couldn't tell us everything about it." He glanced at the class to make sure no one was sleeping in his class. He saw two people comparing notes in the back, and a slytherin transfiguring a snake from his ink bottle and used 'Wingardium Leviosa' to place it on an unspecting hufflepuff's head. She still hasn't realized that garden snake, and that's a lot of work using non-verbal magic just to prank a hufflepuff. Cato thought as he grabbed his wand.
"Here is an example of ancient magick for everyone." He placed his fingers on his wand as if he was going to play it like he would a flute touching his wand with 3 fingers. He then enchanted by saying, "Ingenero". The snake imploded and in the process squirted ink in the slytherin's face. Everyone in the class, except for the slytherins laughed. "Now can anyone tell me how that magick is classified differently from other magic?" Professor Orson waited for a reply. "I think I found today's extra credit. If anyone wishes to participate they can stay after class and propose a good theory. Otherwise, I will tell the class the next lesson. Now let's get back to history, rather than theory or practice. We won't get there for another lesson or two."
"Bathilda Bagshot did, however, come up with a theory on how the history of ancient magics came about. This, being only theory, was left out her book, "A History of Magic". Rather, she made her theory based off of some ancient runes she discovered. Which is why ancient runes are important to the field of ancient magic, making this class an elective only accessible to 8th years and above. Now can anyone tell me an example of a relation between runes and ancient magicks?"

A day could not be complete without a cheerful rendition of one of the many songs from The Sound of Music as sung by Miss Candice Christos. She had recorded herself singing every single song, and then made Jeremiah promise to listen to one once every day. He’d listened to the entire recording many more times than he wished to remember. But even as a teenager Candice was angelic, and not even Jeremiah could bring himself to tell her he really didn’t care. Actually despite being a rather harsh person on the outside, Jeremiah’s soft spot for young girls reached its maximum when it came to the youngest Christos child.
Jeremiah shaved, washed his face, took a shower, washed his face one more time, and then did some overly meticulous grooming of his hair before actually putting on his robes. Just another day, one more day on the immense list of days spent at Hogwarts. Jeremiah knew the value of education. It would help him get one of his chosen careers. Of course to be an actor required less education than being a politician. But he would find a way for his education to work for whichever he ended up choosing. He grabbed his books and walked out of the Ravenclaw living quarters.
By the time Jeremiah was in his Ancient Magicks class he was still dwelling on his future career. Ten years at Hogwarts wasn’t enough in his opinion. Some of his classmates were practically screaming to get out, but Jeremiah was thinking about what else he needed to learn. Even some of the more studious Ravenclaw’s were giving Jeremiah dirty looks. He sat in his usual seat in class, paying little mind to the antics of other less focused students. Today he was off in his own world. Everyone thought that he would have chosen a career by this time. He was nearly graduated.
“… . . . . Ancient magicks can be helpful in many circumstances that normal magic would not work. No one really knows the exact history of ancient magics. Even Bathilda Bagshot couldn’t tell us everything about it.” Professor Orson was saying. Jeremiah glanced periodically from his notes to his professor. His mind was elsewhere, but he didn’t suspect it mattered, as he noticed Orson’s attention diverge on something else as well.
Jeremiah watched his professor grab his wand, and let his eyes fall back onto his notes. There was organized and had almost every word his professor said, when Jeremiah suspected it was actually relevant. Despite thinking most things were relevant, sometimes, like this instance, Jeremiah suspected nothing would happen at the moment to interest him. This particular professor always seemed odd to Jeremiah. He had tattoos and a Mohawk. Jeremiah had no inclination to covering his body with anything more permanent than a new hair cut, and even then he got his hair cut exactly the same each time.
“Here is an example of ancient magick for everyone.” Orson said, Jeremiah didn’t look up, he knew it wasn’t something he would find interesting, “Ingenero.” And then ink exploded over a Slytherin’s face. Everyone laughed, except the Slytherins, and Jeremiah smirked, just to be spiteful of the Slytherins.
“Now can anyone tell me how that mgick is classified differently from other magic? I think I found today’s extra credit. If anyone wishes to particiupate they can stay after class and propose a good theory. Otherwise, I will tell the class the next lesson.” Jeremiah heard Professor Orson say just before Jeremiah looked up. Classified differently? He mused. He was smart, he could come up with a viable classification. If he wanted. He was doing perfectly well in all of his classes, so extra credit really didn’t interest him at this point in the school year, but still he might humor it. “Now let’s get back to history, rather than theory or practice. We won’t get there for another lesson or two. Bathilda Bagshot did, however, come up with a theory on how the history of ancient magics came about. This, being only theory, was left out of her book, ‘A history of Magic.’ Rather, she made her theory based off of some ancient runes she discovered. Which is why ancient runes are important to the field of ancient magic, making this class an elective only accessible to 8th years and above. Now can anyone tell me an example of relation between runes and ancient magicks?”
Normally Jeremiah would have raised his hand, given an answer, and gotten a glare from at least a few other students. But today was not his normal day. He was still distracted with choosing a career. How could he have let this decision go on so long? He had narrowed it down to two possible careers nearly nine years earlier, but now? Now he was stuck. And he’d left it alone too long, now if he left it much longer it could become a problem. He sighed and waited to see if anyone else would give an example.

He just stood there looking at his students with glazed eyes. He never really expected to get a correct answer. He didn't quite expect to get an answer at all. He paused his eyes on a few students to try to coax them into answering, but all his attempts ended in failure.
"Well, I'm not surprised anyone had a reply to my question. It has stumbled many wizards for many decades. It is true that there is a simple relation between runes and ancient magick. To be exact all we know of ancient magick has come for ancient runes. Miss Bagshot proposed a theory of past magicians understood wand lore better than our generation. She went on to explain that with this understand of their wands, they were able to use limitless ideas in magical form, where the degradation of our understanding left us needing incantations."
He looked at the students to see if the information went over their heads. Great another slytherin is drooling. I'm not as bored as a History teacher am I? He gave it up. The bell was about to ring and his students looked bored out of their mind. I wouldn't want to take my own class. Sounds too boring. He pulled up his chair and sat down while adjusting his own gown.
"Class is about to be dismissed. I would like you to write me 10 inches on Bagshot's theory; why it was or was not a correct theory. If you come and give me a valid reason in the classifications of magick from magic? To be a little bit more fair, there are 2 popular classifications of ancient magics. I might even reward those for trying." He said with a wink. He didn't particularly liked asking, more like begging, for student input. It couldn't be helped. ". . . . And starting next class, I will start adding more demonstrations of ancient magicks and occasionally, I'll teach you how to use them." He had just finished his sentence when the bell rang and the slytherins rushed out. They have never been a friendly group, even when I was a student here. He frowned and started writing on his paper who stayed behind to attempt the extra credit.

Jeremiah’s thoughts came nowhere close to mirroring those of his professor. In fact he found the class interesting and informative. There was nothing about pointless information that this man could not appreciate to the fullest extent.
“Well, I’m not surprised anyone had a reply to my question. It has stumbled many wizards for many decades.” Jeremiah heard Orson saying. He glanced up momentarily, adjusted his wire rimmed reading glasses, and then scratched a note on his paper. Read textbook again. He supposed if he were focused on the class, and re-read the textbook, because of course he already had once, he would be able to answer any questions left unattended. In the middle Christos’ child’s mind, there were no questions without answers.
“It is true that there is a simple relation between runes and ancient magick. To be exact all we know of ancient magick has come from ancient runes.” Orson said, Jeremiah continued his note taking, “Miss Bagshot proposed a theory of past magicians understood wand lore better than our generation. She went on to explain that with this understanding of their wants, they were able to use limitless ideas in magical form, where the degradation of our understanding left us needing incantations.”
Despite Jeremiah’s intrigue into the subject he was again considering his career options. They were anything but similar. Well unless you asked a skeptic. As far as Jeremiah was concerned the most important skill a politician could have was not the ability to act. Jeremiah could act, but would he get bored not having as much study? Of course he could personally acquaint himself with scripts, all the lines, his and others, the character. In depth study, that was the only way Jeremiah knew.
“Class is about to be dismissed. I would like you to write me ten inches on Bagshot’s theory; why it was or was not a correct theory. If you come and give me a valid reason in the classifications of magick from magic? To be a little bit more fair, there are two popular classifications of ancient magicks.” Jeremiah perked up a bit at that comment, a legitimate number? That was new. “I might even reward those for trying.” Orson said with a wink. Jeremiah smirked, he was getting desperate, and even in Jeremiah’s distracted state he could see that much.
“…And starting next class, I will start adding more demonstrations of ancient magicks and occasionally, I’ll teach you how to use them.” That was the end. The bell rang, Slytherins bolted. Jeremiah suspected if the door had been locked they’d have gone out windows. Orson went to write down who was staying for extra credit. Jeremiah was almost inclined to leave just so he wouldn’t look needy, he was never needy, but he was also always proud, and so he could stand to assume no one thought he was being needy.
When the other students dispersed Jeremiah merely stood by his desk for another moment and then walked to his professor’s desk. Professor Cato Orson was not personally aquainted with Jeremiah, and he knew it. Of course he suspected he might know the basics, name, house, family. Of course the name was easy to find out, the house was visible on his robes, and the family, well that depended on how long he’d been teaching. Of course the Christos clan was extended past that last name, but still. Candice was a fifth year, Jo Lethy was a seventh year, and Kelsey had recently graduated. Only two years previously. But more important than being a Hogwarts alumni was that Kelsey was actually a teacher at Hogwarts herself, Herbology. But none of that meant this man would know anything about Jeremiah, which was perfectly fine with Jeremiah.
“I don’t know about categorization, but I do know a life debt is an example of an ancient magick.” Jeremiah said, to kill the silence as he collected his things, “But I am not trying to get extra credit, merely wanted to offer that. I’m sure I can find more information on the subject when I research it tonight.” Jeremiah said offhandedly. The day he came across as modest would be the day a def man learned to hear.

He sat there writing the names of students who stayed behind. Although he barely knows many of his students by name, he noticed a few stayed behind. Most of them needed the extra credit. Dumb as sticks, he thought as he shook his head as he wrote down a lone slytherin's name and his 'creative' response "The categories are strong and weak".
“I don’t know about categorization, but I do know a life debt is an example of an ancient magick.” He looked up at the boy. He was unfamiliar and knew nothing about him. He glanced down at his robes. Ravenclaw.“But I am not trying to get extra credit, merely wanted to offer that. I’m sure I can find more information on the subject when I research it tonight.”
"Marvelous. Quite a tasteful answer, 5 points to Ravenclaw. I'm sorry, but I don't know your name. You are right, that is an ancient magick." He looked at the other students to see if they could come up with anything on their own. They wouldn't, he saw it as plain as day in their eyes. "The two classifications that determine the difference of normal magic and ancient magic is 'sacrifice' and 'hand position'." He grinned because he found this topic almost impossible to find interest in.
"Now, I would suggest you head to your classes. It would be unwise to be late. Except you, if you so desire to stay," He said as he gestured modestly to Jeremiah. "I'd like to talk to you, if you'd be willing."

Jeremiah vaguely noticed Orson glancing over his robes. Yes, he was a Ravenclaw. Just like his brother. Unlike his sister. Unlike his cousins. Kelsey was somewhat like Jeremiah, despite their differing houses. She was ambitious, and sometimes cut throat. She was a bit harsh, but not as much as Jeremiah. Suffice to say Jeremiah was more ruthless than most, if not all, other members of his family.
Being ruthless was a good trait in a politician, wasn’t it? That would help. But then again compassion helped too. Who would vote for someone that was cruel to them? So he would just have to be efficient, that helped in all aspects. He was highly efficient. But the point was if ruthlessness helped. Did it? Really? Jeremiah couldn’t think of a reason that being ruthless would help in acting. Being determined? Yes. Ruthless? Perhaps not.
“Marvelous. Quite a tasteful answer, five points to Ravenclaw. I’m sorry, but I don’t know your name.” Orson said. Jeremiah blinked once or twice. Well wasn’t that a surprise? Was that even a question? No, Jeremiah read the tone. It wasn’t a question. It was a statement, a mere fact. Orson did not know Jeremiah’s name. Alright, he could live with that. It surprised him, but then again, his ego might just be too big. He never claimed to be modest, and he knew he was a bit high and mighty on occasion. But that didn’t mean he was wrong. He acted like he was that good because he was that good. But Jeremiah only had to wonder one thing at the moment. Was it a mere fact, or was it a way of hinting he wanted the answer? Not a question, but a hint. Girls hinted quite a good deal. Silly things.
“You are right, that is an ancient magick.” Orson said. Jeremiah took that as a no. Not a hint, just a comment. A passing comment. But he saw his professor looking at the other students and then simply said, “The two classifications that determine the difference of normal magic and ancient magic is ‘sacrifice’ and ‘hand position’.” Then Orson grinned. Jeremiah hardly noticed the grin because he chuckled softly, then let his eyes zone out. That was rather random. Sacrifice, and hand position. The two seemed so unconnected. Like Acting and politics. He frowned and his eyes slowly came back into focus on his professor.
“Now, I would suggest you head to your classes. It would be unwise to be late.” Orson said, causing Jeremiah to make sure he had his stuff and then glance at the door., “Except you,” Jeremiah heard, and noticed he was being referenced, “if you so desire to stay, I’d like to talk to you, if you’d be willing.”
“Willing? Well I can’t say that I’ve ever heard of a situation that declining the request of a teacher was an intelligible decision.” He said with a subtle smirk, so as to imply good feelings, but not actual happiness, “Care to enlighten me as to what I’ve done that is of interest to you? Or what regarding me at the least.”

“Willing? Well I can’t say that I’ve ever heard of a situation that declining the request of a teacher was an intelligible decision. Care to enlighten me as to what I’ve done that is of interest to you? Or what regarding me at the least.”
It was the first time Cato actually held a student's attention for longer than a few seconds. Well not by the normal standard of keeping someone's attention, but rather a student actually replying back intellectually. Cato just kinda shifted a bit as he heard the words and mentally grinned ear to ear. This kid is an eccentric one, he thought as he took a small breath to respond to Jeremiah.
"Rather it isn't the fact that you yourself have done too much for me to take an interest, it is more like I am a new teacher here and you happen to be the first student in my class that has shown any form of wit. I shouldn't be expressing any opinion in regards to that anyway since I'm the teacher. Care to take a seat or I could walk with you to your next class?" Cato stood up and tried to appear less like a teacher and more like a friend. He however failed because he wasn't for sure whether to gesture for him to sit or to do something to make himself look busy or to just stick with looking professional like a teacher. He ended up messing with his hands for a few seconds and decided to be less formal and take off his wizard gown.
"So I've never been any great at introductions, but I'm curious about you for so reason. I don't suppose we could trade stories or something?" He shrugged a bit as he finally got the gown folded into his case. He didn't like how . . . canned his talking was. He put half of his right hand into his jeans pocket while gesturing with his left for show a sense of confusion that if it could talk would say, "So, what now?" His tshirt was definitely not regulation to wear underneath Hogwart gowns. The shirt itself has become a muscle shirt by the sleeves, in one way or another, being ripped off. Cato hoped that with his gown off, he could look more like a friend than a teacher. Besides he has no more classes today, so he can go without his gown the rest of the day. He just worried about whether his tattoos was a little too much for Jeremiah.

Jeremiah could sense a strange amusement coming from Orson. He didn’t give it too much thought, except to relate it back to the two career options he held in mind for himself. Perhaps he could do both? No. As an actor he could moonlight as anything else. But a politician? They sort of frowned upon the idea of acting as a hobby. But it wouldn’t be a hobby. Both would be careers. He could do either. In all actuality he had the skills to pursue a career in Quidditch, he was vastly athletic and extremely skilled in that sport in particular, but Quidditch didn’t interest him as politics and drama interested him.
“Rather it isn’t the fact that you yourself have done too much for me to take an interest, it is more like I am a new teacher here and you happen to be the first student in my class that has shown any form of wit.” Orson said. Jeremiah listened with a vague interest, though any focus he had was being stolen from his distraction. “I shouldn’t be expressing any opinion in regards to that anyway since I am the teacher. Care to take a seat or I could walk with you to your next class?” He asked. Jeremiah would have commented, but it was far more entertaining to watch Orson fumble around awkwardly.
Jeremiah couldn’t exactly tell why Orson was acting so strange, but it didn’t bother him, not really. He merely arched an eye brow and folded his arms. “So I’ve never been any great at introductions, but I’m curious about you for some reason. I don’t suppose we could trade stories or something?” Orson said with a shrug as he folded his robe into a case. He sounded like his dialogue was forced. When he finally made a gesture with his left hand Jeremiah let himself smirk.
“You can walk me to my next class if you so chose. And regarding wit, I suspect you would like my younger sister. She is sweet, but clever. Hufflepuff, but she isn’t old enough for this class yet. But you could also know my cousin, she is a teacher here. She teaches Herbology, professor Lethy.” He said, subconsciously refusing to even come close to mentioning his brother. Casey was clever, no doubt, after all, he was a professional at being clever. But Jeremiah didn’t want his brother coming up in conversation. Even though he didn’t admit it.
“My cousin is a new professor here too, this is her second year. So I suppose I would suggest you talking to her if you want someone to relate to in that aspect. I don’t know what stories I would share in the few minutes I have until my next class, but if you really wanted to talk to me, after school is most advisable. I do not have Quidditch practice today, and I can postpone studying for a short time if necessary.” He said, pushing his glasses up subconsciously. “It’s up to you.”

Cato just slightly grinned. He was thankful that his first student to teacher relationship was doing okay, but he worried as to whether he could be open about his past to this 'innocent' kid. Even more so, he was worried that his position and age would make it impossible for a student to care for relations. The one most difficult thing for Cato is trying to understand a reserved mind. He snapped back to full consciousness to realize he heard everything Jeremiah had said, but wasn't listening. He knew what he said, but didn't think too much about it. All he really knew was that Jeremiah was talking about his relatives and somehow professor Lethy came into the conversation. "Professor Lethy?" He made a mental note to talk to her later. If he was going to have teacher friends, she probably would be a suitable one to talk to first. He gathered up his suitcase, bag-thing and gestured for Jeremiah to lead the way to his class. "Jeremiah, what is something you'd like to talk about?" He kinda did a double take in his mind of the imaginary list of things a teacher could ask a student. "What would you like discussed in next class's lecture?"

Jeremiah noticed Orson fade out. He didn’t trouble himself with paying him too much mind as he was clearly distracted. Jeremiah did watch him grab his bag and gesture for Jeremiah to head into the hall. He did so.
“Jeremiah what is something you’d like to talk about? What would you like discussed in next class’s lecture?” Orson asked, coming out of his distraction. Jeremiah started walking slowly toward his next class. It was a potions class.
“Oh, I doubt I am the right person to be asking. That is if you are concerned with keeping the entire class involved. Most people do not think like the Ravenclaw prefect. I’ve come to that understanding. I find the class interesting. But I also find politics interesting.” He said with a smile, and then frowned. How did that always come up? He was a glutton for punishment when it came to that topic, “I apologize if I seemed a bit detached in class today. I realize it might have been hard to notice, yet I am usually more involved. I have been thinking about what career to pursue, and it has all of my attentions. I am a tenth year, as it stands, and when I graduate I will need to pursue work right away.”
He then adopted a more upbeat attitude. Reserved, as he was, but still upbeat. Jeremiah was far more like his brother than he liked to think. He was a spoiled brat, according to a lot of people, but he had a strong work ethic. As soon as Casey had graduated he had looked for work at his dream job. As a spy. Yet Jeremiah had two dream careers. Perhaps not dreams, but he enjoyed them. That was the problem. He had no dream career, neither of them made him utterly deliriously happy. They didn’t fill him with adrenaline. He’d seen Casey with a sword in his hands, jumping around, spewing off some foreign language that Jeremiah himself, the scholar hadn’t even heard of. But that was not to imply Casey wasn’t intelligent, he had been a prefect, in Ravenclaw, just like Jeremiah. But he was different. Very different.
“Do you have any siblings, Professor Orson?” He asked solemnly, seeming, yet again, distracted.

“. . . . I find the class interesting. But I also find politics interesting . . . I apologize if I seemed a bit detached in class today. I realize it might have been hard to notice, yet I am usually more involved. I have been thinking about what career to pursue, and it has all of my attentions. I am a tenth year, as it stands, and when I graduate I will need to pursue work right away.”
Cato heard the words and thought about them. Politics, is something that he is interested in? How come it sounds like he isn't entirely sure what to do if he is still looking for a career. He closed his eyes in one of the childish expressions that he uses and said, "No problem, there was time when I didn't pay attention in classes myself. In fact this one class I kept falling asleep in it everyday no matter how much I tried not to. I've never had an interest in Herbology when I was younger. Never had the patience for anything . . . so slow at results." He shrugged his head a bit, before thinking about whether or not to bug Jeremiah about his career issues such as giving him an example from his own life. His thinking was interrupted when he heard Jeremiah say Do you have any siblings, Professor Orson?
"Hmm? Oh! Um. . . no I do not." For some reason it irked Cato to be called Professor, or to be addressed by his last name. He shrugged his inability to concentrate off as well as his irk. I'll get used to it eventually, He thought as he went on. "The only really interesting story about my family is my father's murder." He paused to make things sound more friendly and lighthearted. "Which leaves just me and my mother." He smiled his childish lighthearted smile and continued his thinking about Jeremiah's career. "Would you like a little suggestion on choosing your career? It sounds like you're confused, is there something else that you like besides Politics?"

“No problem, there was time when I didn’t pay attention in classes myself.” Orson said. Jeremiah adjusted his glasses with a finger, holding back a comment. He did pay attention in class. He paid more attention that probably any other student in there, or at least, almost as much. Because he did find it interesting, he found most topics intermeeting that other students. He was a nerd, no doubt about that. But it didn’t bother him. He was stronger, faster, richer, smarter, and more popular than most any student who could muster up the courage to mock him, and in his tenth year, he was older as well.
“In fact this one class I kept falling asleep in it every day no matter how much I tried not to. I’ve never had an interest in Herbology when I was younger. Never had the patience for anything…. So slow at results.” He said with a shake of his head. Jeremiah remained silent, “Hmm? Oh! Um… no I do not.” He said about having sibling, “The only really interesting story about my family is my father’s murder. Which leaves just me and my mother.” He said lightheartedly. Jeremiah did not envy that. Even if he rarely got along well with Casey, there was something about having a brother that he wouldn’t trade. And Candice was an angel, Jeremiah’s weak spot, and she acted like she didn’t know it, so sometimes he wondered if she did or not. She did know she was the only one who could get away with calling him Jerry, and she took advantage of that often. And there were many stories of interest in regard to the Christos and Lethy families. He smirked, many stories the police might find interesting.
“Would you like a little suggestion on choosing your career? It sounds like you’re confused, is there something else that you like besides Politics?”
“Oh, yes.” Jeremiah said with a frown, “I have been trying to decide between two careers for the past nine years. See I want to either go into politics, or acting. They are not similar, and I highly doubt I can do both. I would have no problem with doing them both, but I doubt my co-workers would appreciate such action. And as soon as I graduate I will need to either find more specific education, or seek a job of some sort to climb the career ladder to where I want to be. Money, really does not concern me.” He said with a shrug. He knew his parents had no problem giving him money. They would no doubt have given some to Casey, but he refused to take it.

"well let me tell you my story. Obviously it is my story and not yours, but I hope it could help you. Even in the slightest. Besides I find stories interesting and enlightening. Its your choice what you get out of it." he cleared his throat and stopped to make sure they were heading in the right direction. He then decided just walk and slightly follow Jeremiah while heading in what he thought was the correct direction. He mostly zoned out and went into his short story. "Basically, when I went into Hogwarts all my plans were screwed up by my father's murder. I don't even remember what I was interested in going into, because all my ideas have been changed by that event. I think what my point mostly by this is, once you get on that road. It is a hell of a long easier staying on." He thought through exactly what he said. He couldn't believe how tacky of a person he was. When did I reach middle age, I mean I'm talking like an old fart.. "There are some things out there that might slightly interest you. I only have one suggestion in regards to something to look into. Knowing how well my guesses are it won't be anywhere close but I think you may like to think about the position of a lawyer." Cato let whatever chuckle he anticipated come and let the time be filled with it, or silent glaring, before going on. "Here me out, I know lawyer doesn't quite equal politics. It is just as methodical as Politics though and it enforces the laws that politics are bound by. It fuses acting too, because you can defend your client in courts. That requires a cool hand, and even fast wit to make your audience believe the evidence you show. That is acting at one of its most basic cores. 'making your audience believe what they are seeing'." Cato really hoped he was the worst teacher in Hogwarts. He'd hate to get a metal for most nosy and outstandingly tacky teacher award.

“Well let me tell you my story.” Orson said, Jeremiah mentally shrugged. He wasn’t so sure how this would efficiently help him, but people were rarely able to help him in the ways he wanted, efficiently. He did things for himself, at least when he felt it actually mattered. “Obviously it is my story and not yours, but I hope it could help you. Even in the slightest.” Well at least he was attempting to be helpful, even Jeremiah could appreciate that.
“Besides, I find stories interesting and enlightening. It’s your choice what you get out of it.” Stories. Not Jeremiah’s forte, “Basically, when I went into Hogwarts all my plans were screwed up by my father’s murder. I don’t even remember what I was interesting in going into, because all my ideas have been changed by that event.”
“Reasonable.” Jeremiah muttered under his breath. He suspected that his father’s murder would warp him, especially if he was just going into Hogwarts, which implied a young age. But his father happened to have retired from one of the most kill-worthy jobs Jeremiah could imagine, even in retirement.
“I think what my point mostly by this is, once you get on that road. It is a hell of a lot easier staying on.” Orson said. Jeremiah had no idea why he had worded it that way, and it made very little sense, so he translated it in his own head that it was easier to stay on the path you chose, “There are some things out there that might slightly interest you. I only have one suggestion in regards to something to look into. Knowing how well my guesses are it won’t be anywhere close but I think you may like to think about the position of a lawyer.”
Whatever Orson was expecting from Jeremiah did not happen. He merely shook his head silently. He would have commented, but he expected more from Orson, so he kept his silence. He wasn’t a chatterbox, and he had no problem with being quiet, or speaking up. It all depending upon the circumstances, “Hear me out, I know lawyer doesn’t quite equal politics. It is just as methodical as politics though and it enforces the laws that politics are bound by. It fuses acting too, because you can defend your clients in courts. That requires a cool hand, and even fast wit to make your audience believe the evidence you show. That is acting at one of its most basic cores. ‘Making your audience believe what they are seeing.’”
“I appreciate the suggestion,” Jeremiah said with his calm tone, “but I haven’t the inclination.” He could act, and he could deceive, he was above thinking they were the same thing. They required the same qualities, as Orson had said making your audience believe what they are seeing but liars wanted control, and actors merely wanted suspended disbelief.
“I am not a people person in the sense that I wish to help others. I can, and sometimes I do, but that is not my inclination, in the least. Of course being a prosecuting attorney fits me more, but I do not wish for individual cases. And deception is not my goal. I like acting in that it is like sarcasm, you want them to be wrapped in it, but knowing they know you are not being honest. Lawyers, ah, not so much. I want to make rules, and enforce them, not follow them and that. It is a logical suggestion, but it doesn’t fit my perception.” Jeremiah said finally.

Cato just thought. He had no clue what he should do. He knew the suggestion wasn't going to be much help. At least he wasn't a complete posterior. If he kept that story a much longer one, like he could have, he would have been annoying.
"Well it's a good thing you know what you don't want. Start from there. Could try being Minister of Magic, but that can be just as 'good' as being a lawyer and twice as hard to get." He decided to change the subject. He wasn't being that helpful to this kid. Besides who knows better than yourself. "Tell me what would you do if you just went into acting? I mean there might be many things under acting that you can go into."
They were getting close to their destination now. He just realized he walked a fair bit of it without really realizing he was walking it. He wasn't for sure what to say anymore. He literally had nothing to go off of and nothing going on in his brain. What do you say to a kid you just met who has no clue what he wants to do? He chuckled a bit. He thought about a muggle movie he watched once. It was called 'Terminator' and had Arnold Schwarzenegger in it. He imagined Shane like a confused machine-like Schwarzenegger who has no clue what he wants to do or what he is, and saw him ending up becoming Mayor of a state. Cato must have had some issues, cause that probably wouldn't have been funny for anyone else.
