She could not help but notice how the falling snow looked like a beautiful silky blanket in the night sky. Clover noticed the hint of the aurora borealis as she made her way to the Leaky Cauldron to wait for Lucas to finish his shift. She pulled her long blue coat closer to her frame and straightened black scarf around her neck.
The snow fell into her eyelashes and clung there like icicles on a Christmas roof. She spotted the small pub and she stepped inside, looking all around for him. They had gone on a few dates since they had gotten back together, but they felt more like old friends just hanging out. She was not against it, and she knew that it would take some time to fully show that lovey-dovey, hopeless romantic feeling again.
Clover hummed a bit and heard the familiar guitar playing of Lucas within the pub. She swept her boots against the rug and took a seat in one of the booths, watching him and listening to him. She did not make any obvious movements to say that she was there, not wanting to embarrass him or distract him. She crossed her legs beneath the table and pondered ordering something. She decided to wait in case he wanted to go elsewhere.
She rubbed her hands under the table and leaned close to the small candle lamp on the centre of the table, the flame growing fiercely in darkness of the winter’s eve. They did not have anything planned for the evening and they would merely ‘wing it’. She peered up at the time and saw that Lucas’ shift would be over in a matter of minutes and she grew secretly anxious, wanting to see him.
It had been at least two weeks since the two had become so busy with work. She opened up the small notebook she always carried in her coat and began to quietly write, a sudden poet breathing out of her ever since she began to date Lucas again. She found it strange how they had not been together for very long again, or been around each other a lot but she had those same giddy feelings again- the feeling of her heart leaping and the world freezing whenever she saw him. It felt like they had never broken up at all. At least, that was how it all felt to her.
She worried a lot about the way Lucas felt for her. It was not as though his feelings changed, it was not like he would cheat on her. She worried that he still resented her for what happened. She worried that he would realize how horrible what she did was. How she was supposed to die, how she lived but she did not contact him. She wondered if he spent all those years thinking she was dead. She sighed and began to wonder how Lucas even forgave her, or if he has.
She smiled as she wrote her poem; about him. She knew that she loved him with all of her heart, and she did not think that would ever change. I never knew I could feel like this, like I’ve never seen the sky before. I will love you until my dying day.
